Gyration in Blueby krnodilComment by ashwinmc: It's quite a blur. There should have been some identity. It could have passed of as an abstract, but it's not even technically sound. |

Gyration in Blueby krnodilComment by Citadel: Great motion capture. While the typical "DPC Sharp" I like the motion blue that was achieved here. The colors are nice and create good interest. It would be nice to make the background a little whiter but that might be nitpicky.
The composition is well done and compliments the subject well.
The challeng: A natural approach to the challenge however this does have enough visual appeal to stand out in a crowd. |

Wood Carvingby krnodilComment by DrAchoo: Technicals: I like the lighting and B&W conversion. The focus is on, but unever. I think your lens is not at a perfect parallel to your object (evidenced by the bottom being more out of focus).
The feel: The grain here seems to be a product of oversharpening which is probably not the best way to go. It does produce noise, but it also gives the picture a harsh feel. I also think shots which rely on detail are not good candidates for image grain. The two wind up competing with each other.
The game: A pretty subtle shot for DPC. A nice capture of the carving lit nicely to show the relief, but my quesiton is "why grain?" This picture doesn't look like it needs it and gives the impression the grain was added to meet the challenge. |
