I think you have already heard, over and over, about the only real problem with this picture. (The softness of the focus.) At this closeness, and with a wide aperature, (f-2.8) the depth of field will be extremely small and unforgiving.

Had you tried to sharpen the image much more, it would have looked worse because it would have become grainy and had haloes around objects.

Other than that, this is an extrodinarily good image. Color, saturation, hue, brightness and contrast are all excellent. I particularly like the perfect black contrast of the missing areas of the leaf. It really sets off the other colors well.

I knew this was yours - I'd recognize that little red-head anywhere! I hoped that you would do well with this and in a Free Study I think anything above 50th percentile is a really good finish considering the amazing competition that always goes into them. Congratulations!

Very cute - typical little boy moment. I like the crop and the quiet color tones - and the black back works very well. His skin is a wee bit washed out on his chest but my eye goes to his face anyway. 7

I like this photo a lot....the purple is very subtle, but I like the muted colors and the texture feel of this photo. I am giving you a 10...nice photo
