This may have been a shot better done with some setup. This picture looks to much like a last minute shot. Your use of lighting, focus and cropping could have been changed to help make this a more dynamic picture of a keyboard. Crop out the top and bottom partial rows, use a desk lamp instead of your flash, either backup some to get better focus or use a step up ring to get the detail of the keys in sharper focus. Post processing your levels to get a deeper black and solid white would help your grey gradients to give a better balance.

Sometimes prep work pays off.

This was a last minute, looking around the apartment for anything square-ish. I concede the originality is an issue, and I too noticed the 4-5 other entries that were pretty much the same (and I voted them pretty much the same as what I was voted). However, as a first submission, I'm still rather happy as I actually did something this time rather than thinking "I should do something like this" and then never getting around to it.

The keys are not really sqare-shaped. Close..... Focus/detail is a little soft, probably due to reflection of light off the keys. Good composition.

My god I can't stand pics of keyboards. And this one is the worst I've ever seen. It's out of focus and over exposed. I think we have the same keyboard... IBM keyboard?
