Dawn at the Templeby LanndonKaneComment by bassbone: First of all - isn't it amazing how small the images look using the old 640 pixel requirement!?
Regarding the photo at hand, the colors of the sunrise are wonderfully rich and the use of centered composition really focuses our attention on the temple. That said, I fear that the image does not come off as sharp, especially around the temple. There is almost a small amount of halo around the entire image that makes it seem not completely in focus.
The thick border also seems to take away from the image, from the lightposts are cut off abruptly to the foreground glow lost in the thick black of the frame. |

minimalismby LanndonKaneComment by Mike: nice, i wish it was just a tad lower on the exposure, however it has a whispy feel and i love the simplicity |

"I think the sun is a flower, That blooms for just one hour."by LanndonKaneComment by bassbone: Bradbury rocks and you picked a wonderful quote to emulate!
I like the minimal feel of this a lot, from the composition, to the hint of the table on the right side. As Bob said below, there are a few things that give it a slightly unfinished feel - from the water in the vase to the slightly blown out feel of the left side of the image. |

minimalismby LanndonKaneComment by bassbone: i find this one very satisfying, especially the softness of the image itself, both the light and the lack of over sharpening from post processing. i just am wondering what happened to the shadow on the table to the left of the vase...it gives it an almost unbalanced feel. |

minimalismby LanndonKaneComment by neenee1999: I personally like this, the high key element and the clean lines, very contemporary, would make a great print! |

minimalismby LanndonKaneComment by pamb: I do actually like this image. It is beautiful in it's simplicity. I 'want' to give it a bit more space on the left and bottom, a very little less space at the top. The manner in which the table edge (?) disappears on the left is a little disconcerting. Overall it is a minimal image with oodles of character and expression. Potentially 'not abstract enough' for this challenge. |

"I think the sun is a flower, That blooms for just one hour."by LanndonKaneComment by bobnospum: I like the white backdrop here as it really isolates the vase/flowers. The right hand side where the table drops off is a bit distracting. As for the water, I might have used a empty vase or a full vase so that there would be no line. A solid colored vase may have worked out as well. Your aperature of 1.8 is an odd choice unless you were handholding. f8 would have keep the whole flower in focus, as it is I think it it is a little soft on the edges. |
