Do Ya' Think I'm Sexy?by OmanOtterComment by bjoern: I don't find it noisy, actually. Gave it a 7. But being from Munich I'm biased too. Did you visit Bavaria, or is this somewhere else?
And the feather - the Gamsbart (although admittedly it looks more like a feather) is the pride of the dancer. Can't be distracting by definition.
Btw, you beat me by one place - my entry is the next one. Message edited by author 2009-04-08 14:17:50. |

Do Ya' Think I'm Sexy?by OmanOtterComment by OmanOtter: I realize I'm biased, but I think this is a freaking hilarious photo - especially when combined with the title! I also think it's well-composed. I couldn't do anything about the other people in the shot and realize they constitute a distraction for some. Also, the shot is very noisy because of the low light. I used ISO 6,400 and no flash - I don't like flashes. Other than the noise and the other people in the background, this is one of my favorite shots. Message edited by author 2009-04-08 13:39:16. |

No One Gets Out of Here Alive!by OmanOtterComment by OmanOtter: These are Serer storytellers of Senegal. Their bodies were placed in the hollow of a large Baobab tree (which is where they remain). Custom does not allow them to be buried in the ground because they were not farmers. The reasoning is that because they did not serve the Earth (as farmers) in life, the Earth would not serve them in death. I love this photo, but did not notice the yellow thing when I took it and could not effectively remove it with Aperture 2. I think the wires add an important element to the photo because it makes it appear that they were prisoners. I'll have to go back one of these days and re-shoot it without the yellow thing. |

No One Gets Out of Here Alive!by OmanOtterComment by vlado: Well composed. Nice and sharp. Would have liked it to be a bit darker, which would have added a tad more drama to it. I find the wires and the orange twig(?) very distracting... could have used a tighter crop and convert it to B&W perhaps. Overall though, a good image.
Now that my comment about your photo is done... please bear with me while I use your image in a little comment experiment... something like K10DGuy's comments, but with a twist... the twist being, the story will move from one photo to another within the challenge.
Yours is the seventh and final in the sequence... :

The three rested in the cave. For the first time since they found themselves alone in the world, they found sleep easily that evening. Sleep comes easily to those with no worries, and those that have given up all hope have no worries in the world. They slept, and they never woke... now the world was empty... now the meek could inherit the Earth.
