Shots like these need to be well executed as they are in a controlled environment where you have full control. This is not the case with this pic. It's underexposed which has resulted in the grain and it looks soft which shots like these must not be. Take time and make sure you get the best possible exposure - You probably needed some extra light to light up the chalice so that the exposure of the flame would not burn out and would then match up evenly.

It is a shame this looks soft, and noisey. A contrast boost may make the image pop a little bit more.

I eventually put an entry in science, but before this is I was contemplating something very similar - drawing a pentagram in long exposure over stone with Richard Dawkin's excellent "God Delusion" in the centre.

Based on your title, mine would have to have simply been called "Good"!

Nice shot - I think the bible could have been better centered in the pentagram though.
