fire is deadby grayoComment by timfythetoo: Welcome to DPC! I hope you didnt take offense to my comments in challenge but they are the issues I had with the image. But let me say that you are inthe right place to grow - and at your age you will pick this up way faster than some of us old farts. Have fun here and keep on submitting. My first entries here did real bad (as well as some of my recent entries). Keep on experimenting and the scores will come. Have fun! |

fire is deadby grayoComment by aznym: I got 4.1185 for my first entry and I entered wanting to participate. It's good to submit something and see how it does.
Even if it's didn't score well, I think this image is interesting - light, colours and the smoke shapes. Needs better focus and perhaps a bit more contrast.
Work with the camera more and you will surprise yourself.
Keep shooting and keep submitting. Don't worry too much about scores and try to learn what you want to learn.
I think you have a good eye. |

fire is deadby grayoComment by Penny Lane: I like the way you have used red lighting to light this shot. It gives it an eerie feel. You've captured the smoke really well. This shot tells me you have thought about what you want to achieve and have come out with a pretty good result. Don't worry too much about the score your photos recieve, we all have poor scoring photos that we love. If I were you I'd be proud of this shot. I can't wait to see what you're producing in a few years! |

fire is deadby grayoComment by Delta_6: Good idea, better lighting would have helped here, please don't give up, I know from painful personal experience that getting a low score makes you want to but you just keep on trying, pay attention to the helpful advice you get and you will get there. |

fire is deadby grayoComment by nards656: To get better focus on a subject in the dark, turn on an overhead light, focus on the subject, then switch to manual focus, turn off the light, and make the shot.
This is a great shot for an 11 year old. Keep at it! |

fire is deadby grayoComment by idp: I won't even try to give you any advice -a quick look at my scores will tell you I ain't qualified. But don't let it get you down and don't give up. And ask your mum if you can join the PAD or PAW projects. Less than a month on and not only has it improved my photography all round but I don't feel nearly so attached to my pictures. Good luck for the future challenges. |

fire is deadby grayoComment by Jaded_Housewife: I like your subject and composition. The shot is very well set up and with a crisper focus could have done much, much better. Just use a tripod, set your focus and your good to go. Can't wiat to see your next shot. this shows a lot of promise. and Welcome to DPC! :D |
