It looks like you were outside and you used your flash. Also I think that the edges of the flower look like they have a halo around them as if you blurred the background and outlined the flower with the marquee and feathered it.

Hi Tom! How's it going? I used manual focus, I find it's actually a lot faster than autoFocus when I am capturing these fast moving guys! Hope all is well?
