I Love this and you're right, The lighting makes up for it. Even though it is covering the face of one of the singers, it adds a great emphasis on the other singer.

Greeting from the critique club

Firstly I am really surprised that this didnt't score higher.. I thought it was very atmospheric.

I think you have done a brilliant job at catching the mood of the performance..you can almost hear the music. The lighting is fantastic and I love the way is catches the hair grip on the right and the mic also. Very cool!

Focussing in such a hard lighting situation is good-the faces are very sharp with just some blurring on the body. Background detail is unseen which helps the singers really stand out. Great.

You have said the biggest problem with the picture and that is that the mic is right in front of the girls face, I remember thinking this while voting. Perhaps if the girl was a little back from the mic it may have been possible to get her mouth and the mic... but you can hardly ask her to do this!

Overall i think this is a very good shot and I think you deserved to place a lot higher.

Hope some of this helps
Natasha

Hi, from the Critique Club,

Tritych throws up some interesting photos and always shows a lot of imagination. And, I tend to agree with LuDeLush's comment which suggests to love triangle, whether or not this was intentional, it makes an statement!

Composition, a nicely composed Triptych, well balanced and each element works as a stand alone item, but combined they work well together.

Technically, well focussed and the lighting really helped draw all three shots together. The sizing of each element makes easy viewing.

Overall, the more I study your submission, the more stories pop into my head. Is it a love triangle? Are the males Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, split personalities, due to their similarities? The lighting is the key I think, whether this was a conscious effort on your part, or just fortuitous, it makes a strong statement. Two men, one lit green, the other lit red and the girl lit equally by both colours and there is just a hint of menace that comes through. I liked this submission and was surprised that it didn't score higher and place better. It was a pleasure to be able to critique this for you, Thanks!

Not sure if it was on purpose, but i see a woman lit with two colors (pink and green) and then two men lit singulary with the same colors. Now this tells a story!!! Torn between two lovers! At least to me...Love it...10
