Mtn Goat in the Elkhornsby XukoComment by jasonlprice: I gave this a 6 during voting and I really liked the strong diagonal composition. A little more seperation from the background and a little more contrast in the hair (as figaro mentioned) and I would have voted higher. It is really shocking how high the standards are with wildlife photography here at DPC...5.2 certainly isn't a reflection of the quality of this shot. |

Mtn Goat in the Elkhornsby XukoComment by figaro: At first I wondered whether the goat was really in focus - I think it is but it really needs to pop out at us a little bit more (some USM would do the trick if applied well) and the image is a little bit lacking in contrast. It would make a terrific B&W I reckon (in fact, if you'd like me to have a play then do send me over a larger version though I can't claim to be an expert!). You've captured real energy here and the bokeh is nice too :) |

Mtn Goat in the Elkhornsby XukoComment by JuliBoc: I really like the subject, composition and colors. I think a Levels adjustment would improve the image, more contrast would help too. There is an USM action called Luko Sharpening that I think would add depth and vitality to the shot. That might also help the focus that seems to have fallen a little short. The rocks in front of the goat seem sharper than the goat itself. If you want the details of Luko sharpening, send me a PM.
I think with a bit more work in Photoshop, you will have an impressive photo. |

Mtn Goat in the Elkhornsby XukoComment by tnun: Framing, subject and action all good. Unfortunately the leaping forelegs are not very well defined against the albeit nicely rendered background which in these crucial areas is too busy. Magnificent beast. |

Mtn Goat in the Elkhornsby XukoComment by krnodil: I like how you framed this, the position of the goat on the diagonal gives the eye some direction, and gives it a bit of energy. The overall light does seem a bit dull, though - some levels adjustment might brighten things up a bit? |
