Gulls in Flightby kleskiComment by k4ffy: well shot technically, but i always prefer the animal motion shots when the composition is off-center, so it looks like the animal is moving towards something or coming from somewhere (IMO) |

Standing Byby kleskiComment by one2one: I gave you a 7 on this but I would like to say something about the image and your POV on why it got barely a 5. Why would a picture of a fireman be taken out of focus? I mean this is a portrait of a guy doing his job, why would this picture be better out of focus? The answer is it wouldn't and this is reflected in your score. I understand the use of soft focus in photography but it also has a limited use. Not every image will look good because you've added a touch of creativity to it by not focusing on the subject. It's not an automatic result. He's also looking right into the lens, at us. So why would someone look at me that way? Am I oof too? eheh
Soft focus is a great way to render a soft scene like a couple walking through a field of really tall grass. Or a girl running in a garden filled with flowers. It has many uses but not in an environmental portrait where you want detail to show up clear and crisp.jmo
