The trick in this challenge is to try and get no shadows. This would have benefitted of close up photography and the bowl doesn't add to the image either.

the running leaves in the top section distracts a bit - If it was just a clear yellow background the picture would be more appealing to me

Its a nice shot but if it doesnt do as well as you expected it may be becasue it looks quite oversaturated. Those oranges are very orange and seem to have lost some detail in the petals. The magenta (in the stems) looks a little odd as well as the cyan in the petals at the back just doesnt seem to fit with the general lighting of this image.
