I like this - in consideration of the mentioned square crop suggestions, yes this image would work square, but for what purpose, a news photo, cut to fit a newspaper column? I lean to the natural format, camera aspect ratio you have used. Even though the background is essentially plain, there is colour and space which contributes to a sense of environment for this beautiful specimen. I'll make a vote for the aesthetic consideration of full frame.

I have the same 18-200, and it's a wonderful lens ... ! I'm thinking maybe a faster shutter speed and/or slightly higher aperture might have helped your focus here. Also, check the focus settings in your camera menu, and make sure VR is turned on, on your lens. (I only turn it off for tripod shots). I've also experimented w/manual focus, which you turn on on your lens ... especially for macro-type shots. I apologize in advance if you already know all this!

Very nice. I like the sharp focus on the flower and the choice of background color & bokeh. I agree with the previous comment about trying a square format as another option.

The composition and focus on the subect could be a stronger, but this is a superb concept and the shallow DOF is great. It also appears to be a little dark on my screen.

Soft focus works well with this image, IMO. The soft colours gift it an almost water colour look.
