My Papa's Tractor

Comment by Gracious:
I like the idea, but it is difficult to see details. The lighting was challenging. If you exposed for the shadows, the tire would be too bright. If you exposed for the brightness on the tire, then the rest becomes under-exposed. Perhaps the best solution would be a different time of day.
Best of luck in all the challenges.

Comment by PaulMdx:
Composition: Pic looks a little cluttered, which may be the focus. Otherwise, very good choice. May have cropped that little white line at the top out.
Technical: I really like the lighting.
Meets challenge: Yes
Overall impression: Very interesting, but the b&w makes it a strain to process the pic.

The glare at the top detracts. It is not a very interesting photo.

Contrast is a little weak. Maybe should have zoomed out a little because it's kind of hard to tell what it is at this zoom level.

Comment by mci:
this is very dark and muddy. you can't really tell what you're looking at unless you give it a good hard look. i'd like to see more contrast / hard light off the ball in order to bring some of it's curves to life. 4.

Not a bad idea (subject) but the shot is weak. I can't see much of the tractor. The light is very strong in one area (tire) and very weak in the rest of the shot. THIS is always a problem in photos. I love shadows and shots of shadows...and like I say your idea is good but it's not seen well here.

Thanks for all the comments! I can't believe I basically have as many one's as I do ten's! That is so weird how people react so differently to a photo. I know some had an issue with my face not showing. I wasn't going for that. I didn't want to take a portrait to show you what I look like. I wanted to take a photograph to show who I am. (Not an ass) haha. But that I'm a soft person(the blurriness), that is sensual, tranquil, relaxed, confident, and with an edge(the graininess).
For those who got it, high five.

Seems a tad out of focus. Also, the lighting seems a bit harsh especially on the wheel. You have a good choice of subject matter for your B&W and it definately meets challenge, but I think I would prefer to see more of the tractor. 4 Good luck in the challenge.

Nice body form which comes over well with the softness and graininess.

Light and tonal design set this image apart. The self-portrait aspect make it magical.
