I Love the Moonby tolovemoonComment by sidpixel: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that contributes well to the challenge
Simple is usually the best way to go Tracy, a straightforward shot without any clutter or distractions and you have captured the essence of the moon there̢۪s no mistaking that. Although you have the detail of the moon it all feels a little on the soft side, if you compare some of the other challenge entries you will hopefully appreciate what I mean. There̢۪s not a lot you can do compositionally so its good that its not perfectly central but because it isn̢۪t perhaps better use of one the hotspots would have also given it a little more impact. |

In the Springby tolovemoonComment by sidpixel: Hello from the Critique club
An appealing image that meets the challenge.
A competent shot of a lovely looking flower more or less centred in an oblong frame with off-centred foliage and that is one of the things that detracts from a true centred composition. I think you would have been better here to have close-cropped it to a square so that it filled the frame more and therefore gave it more prominence and impact. As it stands although you have nice lighting that serves to model the flower well it lacks wow and has foliage foreground and background that detracts from the core intention for a centred composition. Although I like the non-symmetrical lower left petal again it detracts from the overall result.
Thanks for your entry Tracy. |

What is the true meaning of Christmas?by tolovemoonComment by sidpixel: Hello from the Critique club
An interesting image that meets the challenge
This is a nice decoration to have chosen for your subject, I like that you have filled the frame and included its hanging string against a soft focus background, however, I do think you could probably have improved the background? As it is on string I would imagine you could have twisted it round to a position that enabled you to avoid the distracting bright light? The light is completely overblown as are parts of the frame and leaves on the left too. The decoration itself lacks sharpness which may be a focussing issue, movement of the decoration or more likely some camera shake from the slow shutter speed. You did right to use a high ISO to raise the shutter speed and this may even be your highest shutter speed? A tripod or stable support would be very highly recommended in this situation and would have enabled you to use a lower ISO too.
Thank you for your entry, hope you have a lovely festive holiday and a creative New Year to you. |

Soft Kittyby tolovemoonComment by Beetle: Usually we like to have the best focus on the eyes, instead of on the tip of a nose. But I do like your "fill the frame" approach. |
