To answer the comments, the blur was intended on this shot. I had two camera with me that morning. One was my trusty EOS-3 loaded with Tmax pushed to ISO 25k and a 176mm f/0.8 lens and the other was my new(to me) 10D. I used the EOS-3 for my normal pre-dawn shots but decided to try out the digital with some long shutter speeds to get a sense of movement since I could use it's preview screen to see the results and adjust accordingly. After returning home to develop the film, I greatly preferred the shots like the one posted here over the static sharp shots from the film that morning.

A lovely photo. I particularly like your choice of background colors vs the bird's coloring.

The seaspray and the different angles of the birds give a great sense of movement and action. If those values were your intention, I wonder if they might be emphasized a little more by cropping about 10-15 percent off the top and left of the image. For example, crop it until it clips a little bit off the wingtips of the upper-right and lower-left gulls and crops out the upper-left gull entirely. It might give more of an impression that the action extends far past the frame and make the scene a little more intense.

Either way, I really like it!

Wild colors. I had no idea grasshoppers came in anything other than green/brown...

Very nice shot! The angle of the bird and the glow it has relative to it's surroundings really lends a feeling of gracefulness to it's movement.
