passageby CuttoothComment: Meets Challenge: 0 of 3. Sorry, this, to me, is definitely not low key. It's a poorly exposed black and pink photo. I want to see darkness, with a few key highlights giving your subject form.
Technical: 2 of 3. A pretty interesting composition. I actually like the lack of head and the dead flowers. I wish the jacket was a more properly exposed so I could see the details in it, and that the person's hands were in focus.
Emotion: 3 of 3. What a creepy picture, though. I love it!

Twilight roseby MelethiaComment: Meets Challenge: 1 of 3. To me, this is just a normal picture of a rose. Mostly full illumination, no real interaction between darks and highlights.
Technical: 2 of 3. A decent shot.
Emotion: 1 of 3. Flower shots usually don't do it for me unless they are highly dramatic, and this just isn't.

Hopeby PhotoDaveComment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3.
Technical: 3 of 3.
Emotion: 2 of 3. It's a pretty dramatic shot, which I like, but I can't quite tell if he's praying, or getting ready for a fight.

Streetsby raishComment: Meets Challenge: 2 of 3. Actually a little too dark. I can't see any of the street's form (except for the very bottom).
Technical: 2 of 3. There's a lot of empty space up top, and for no real reason. I'd have preferred a closer crop
Emotion: 1 of 3. If I could see a little more, I might be able to relate emotionally to this picture, but it's just really really dark. If there was someone in one of those windows, maybe.

Rising Moonby wei1108Comment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3.
Technical: 2 of 3. For some reason, the moon doesn't look round. There appears to be a few gashes in its edge in the top left quadrant. I doubt that's your fault, but it's distracting.
Emotion: 2 of 3. That's a good shot of the moon. Someone ominous, but not quite.

Ancient Lookoutby pjd101Comment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3.
Technical: 2 of 3. I think if this were taken later in the day, the opening might not have been so over blown, and you could have gotten a little more detail out there without sacrificing the texture inside.
Emotion: 2 of 3.

Sailing Awayby briandsdComment: Meets Challenge: 2 of 3. Not so much low key, to me, as just a dark shot with a white boat in it. To me, low key is about how the darkness is augmented by the few highlights to describe the form of your subject. That's not this.
Technical: 2 of 3. A decent shot. It's a little grainy. That might just be because of the resize and jpg, though.
Emotion: 2 of 3.

Lost in a Sea of Blueby seebrownComment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3.
Technical: 2 of 3. A few small things changed would have made this a better photo. Crop out the little piece of land on the left horizon, and crop up the bottom so the boat is in the middle of the shot. Also, the stray pixels are pretty distracting on an otherwise solid color of water and sky.
Emotion: 2 of 3. I've always liked lone boats on the water, especially sail boats. This is a very calming shot.

Gerberaby androgeusComment: Meets Challenge: 2 of 3. It's really close for me. I'd rather the flower be lit similarly to the stem.
Technical: 3 of 3. A fine shot!
Emotion: 1 of 3. The stem provides some amount of drama (its striking), but the flower is, well, just a flower. Not all that interesting, unfortunately.

Hard Days Workby prslespaulComment: Meets Challenge: 0 of 3. Way, way, way too bright. The lows in the tractor are completely gone. I'd almost say this is high key.
Technical: 3 of 3. But it's a *great* shot. There's one unfortunate lens flare on the tractor, but that's fine.
Emotion: 3 of 3. My grand-dad grew up on a tobacco farm in South Carolina. He taught me to drive a tractor when I was a young kid. I felt so responsible and trustworthy. Only later did I realize he'd conned me into mowing almost 2 acres of grass. Talk about a hard days work!
