Jump #20by mikasiComment: Great timing and a splendid capture - very sharp for an action shot - but I think you've slightly overdone the post processing. You could do with a little less of the unsharp mask (i'm guessing that's what brought about the halo effect) and the desaturating has somehow dulled the impact - was it really worse in colour? Also, the sky is a bit on the noisy / pixelated side, and a gentle neatimage / guasian blur on the background might have reduced this a bit. The hand on the left is also a bit disturbing as it looks like a monster has bitten two of the fingers off - but that's just an observation and not a score altering thing... good effort, you just need to tone down your editting a bit. |

Drifting into the sunset by trainComment: I've not seen them all yet, but i know this is going to be a winner, definitly top 3, probably numero uno. However, with it being an advanced editting challenge, I might have been slightly tempted to get rid of the lines hanging from the nearest balloon ; just makes it a little bit untidy. overall - fabulous! 10. |

View from a trainby redmoonComment: Wowser, fifth from last and absolutely no 1's awarded! does that approximate an anomoly? Oh, BTW, to all those who commented - you're right, 'tis a boring view, it was a bit of a rush job (over easter weekend i was trapped indoors decorating) and this was taken on the way home FROM work... I'm quite ashamed at submitting such crap, but it has taught me not to bother submitting anything unless i've given it a bit of though. still, i thought my silhouette image was pretty good, and a day into voting it's just chalked up 4.8. tis all very depressing. |

Colourful Windpower after the Rainby simbambaComment: it's a bloody shame that the blades of the wind machines didn't come out sharper - the jaggedy edges are a bit distracting. i'm not very good at post editting so i'm not sure what to suggest. did you use the unsharp mask? in terms of composition i think it's one of the best examples this week. colours are strikingly bold, the trees are a really nice addition - only thing that's missing is an old guy in a cloth cap and on a bicycle - but they're never around when you need one. Sky is also very dramatic - you were lucky with the weather. if only it wasn't so pixellated at the blades... 8. Message edited by author 2004-04-21 03:53:20. |

Strength in Numbersby leafComment: this is a fantastic shot. the sepia tone works wonderfully well, as does the angle of the shot (i love that you got the number one chair right there in the foreground) and the whole style of the thing is very appealing. the way it's all lit - splendid! the title is a bit of a tired cliche, but you've used it well, with great panache and class. 10. |

American Valuesby photomComment: oh, this appears to be a tribute to mr seltzer here... pretty reasonable effort, i must say... I wonder what comment he'll leave... It's a pity the edges of the drops are so jaggedy - kind of detracts the overall effect. fine effort though. |

Stronger than Steelby GordonComment: blimey, splendid! are you the chap who in the forum asked about peoples initial reaction upon seeing the thumbnail to the impressed impression once the image is viewed as it should be? I thought this would be another dumb uninspiring flower shot - boy was i wrong! this is BRILLIANT. Okay, the flowers are taken especially well (gorgeous in fact) but the web - sheer genius. you ARE a bright spark. It's very rare when an image opens and i'm like "oh, wow, cooool". MUST be a ribbon contender, dang it to heck! 10. twice if i could. |

The Strength of Photographyby Zap228Comment: Far too blurry and not a particularly strong photograph, thereby negating the message in your title. you might want to consider investing in a tripod, or failing that, drag over a chair for your camera to sit on. A steady surface and a picture taken using the timer will do wonders for the final image. |

Fruit knife for real menby MotoCycleBoiComment: This is a great choice of subject - totally over the top and i love it! The perspective of the truck/chopper/monster/scary thing is brill, and the whole cutting of the apple thing well played for the eyes are drawn straight to it. The only misgivings is the big blank tank thing (bit distracting) and the unfortunate glare from the sun. But your title is witty (as is the image) and for original thought, you must have one of the better examples. 8. |
