Great composition and fine detail. It's a brilliant shot. There are parts of the birds body that does bother me. Maybe it's moiré or maybe that's how the bird was. But it does kill the full impact this image would otherwise have.

Sharp focus and great detail and I know it's not easy to achieve with a bird in flight. But I don't think the composition works. To me it looks like the bird is boxed. Maybe it's too big for the frame. Looks like it has no where to go. I don't get the free feeling.

I think a tighter crop or a complete black background would have worked much better for this image. I like the texture but you could have balanced the light a bit more by using a reflector or a fill-in light from the right. I also think that the hotspot is a bit strong. Maybe that's what you wanted to achieve. Bottom line is this photograph has potential and it's definitely worth another try.
