Something tells me this is a perfect example of how to shoot through an ordinary household item (glass bowl) at an ordinary scene (apartment block) to make it beautiful.

Very cool concept. Some light bounced off the ceiling would make the background stand out more. Or, since main light source seems to be coming from the right, did you try orienting the objects so that they received full frontal lighting? They're a bit subdued without more light.
Hmmm. Lighten the foreground objects, or lighten the background? I can't decide. Either way, this is a great composition.
