Are those nylon feathers clustered like rose petals? Or do birds actually grow like that?

Track Reflection

Comment:
I think a 1/2 stop or 1 stop gradiated neutral density filter could have helped equalize the reflection and the sky, and maybe lighten up the red rubber and green grass a bit. Maybe it's just the relatively low resolution, but I really feel as though I'm missing many important details in the center of the frame...

Very nice composition! Too bad the aspect ratio is 4:3 instead of something slightly wider...

Haired Flower

Comment:
This image is really begging for cropping, a bit on the right, roughly the same on the left, and lots from the top. Right now the eyes seem more drawn to the big white blob than the flower, at first sight.

Perhaps there is a bit too little depth of field - it would be nice to see the stem in focus too. The frontmost petal isn't as important, IMHO.

Otherwise, good job on the detail and exposure!

In a good way, this picture is not very undecisive - it's nearly rethorical... That cookie looks yummmmmyyy.

Whirlwind Romance

Comment:
The fact that she's looking at the camera gives it presence. Suddenly the intimacy is destroyed, and we're not an out of body observer, but rather a character in the scene. I personally feel no "Romance" in this picture, but rather a sort of sense of schemes being plotted, or veurism.

Furthermore, since the man's ears are at the bottom of his head, or at least this illusion is maintained by the fact that we don't see his chin, you get the feeling that he's not concentrating on the moment, but rather looking away.

I think this is a good picture, but that the title/theme/subject don't work together.

What a delightful metaphor! I love the way the clouds seem almost like splashes of foam from the "wave".

The blurriness of the back of the hand is not natural, right? I think it's slightly overdone.

Longing for a Hold

In my opinion the most impressive part of the image is pushed aside... If the anchor were bigger, and more centered, and shot from an angle where some of it extends into the sky so that the eye can catch the contrast of the metal against the pier, as well as against the sky and find a shape immediately, this short would have been much more focused.

It bothers me that the anchor ends on the shoreline, but not exactly, and I also do not see the reason for so much of the water - being cut off on the other side it does not convey a great depth, it is neither stormy nor calm, and it's color and texture is very much the same throughout the whole picture.

The rocks on the left also seem to me like they would complement the anchor just as well, if not better than the water.

Moreover, the details of the pier, like the little rocks, and the way the wood is cut, and all that is sort of dampenned because of the size of the subject.
