Very intersting lighting. What did you use? A small desk lamp perhaps? Was the overall image darkened somewhat in PS? Or was the ring of shadow added in PS also? Whatever the case... there's something about the center-point of the light "source" that really works for me here. The gradient fade is just right too. Thanks. I'll try to replicate it :)

The narrow depth of field here would have really worked well, softening the pumpkins and ground features to highlight the subject.. What a shame the focus falls to the fore of the main subject. 6. Good luck!

After taking about a zillion mountain shots I finally decided they just never work in portrait for some reason -- even though you'd think it would highlight the height. Then I realised it was about the amount of sky above the peak. Too much sky makes the mountain look much lower than it is. (IMO) 5 and good luck!

The human/parental pride is powerful in this shit, but I feel a tighter crop to remove more of the bottom and right would help a lot. Also, on my screen, the chest and baby's head are very dark. cropping out the blanket and shirt more would have allowed brightening the middle and upper areas. I'm sure there were more important things on your mind at the time though :)

Of the two Rainy Window shots you posted, this one, to me, is by far the most dramatic. Love it.

Well thanks for the compliments. I completely agree -- the face should have at least been visible. Having the camera up there does nothing to add to the photo at all.

Interestingly, I voted 1's for over 60% of the Portrait challenge entries. They all look so fake. The winners might have well have been airbrushes of computer generated images IHMO. Very dissappointed in the human race over this frankly.

Of over 88,000 voters in the challenge, it would appear only myself and one or two others (literally!) share the same view to the degree I do. Wow. Don't *I* feel special! :)

Ah! But far too complex for all us English speaking folk. You might have done better by using "Derriere" as the title. At least some of us would have known it was French then. :) I suppose the French word for breast doesn't sound anything like dairy then? Pity being as they are at least a source of milk.

So lovely to finally see *natural* skin textures surviving the post processing! The lighting is just awesome, the expression magic. 10

Very nice pose, good composition, near zero *natural* skin. 3 (But I bet everyone else votes high in this new plastic world we live in. Good luck.)
