To me this should be a hard picture and it comes off soft. I could see the blur working if his face were hard and crisp, but it's soft as well. I need to see the eyes here, they portray fanatacism in a scene like this, one is hidden in shadow. Idea is great, picture did not deliver. Sorry if this seems harsh but you asked.. really do like the idea.

This one I like... nice eye on this angle. Needs cropping which in photogs terms means shoot closer and then you won't have to crop and will have more detail.. if closer is possible...

The composition doesn't work for me on this one. Perhaps some shots either further below or above. The stem and leaf break up what could be an interesting view of the underside of the far wing.
