There's a great deal to look at & examine in this one. It really captures the feeling of being buried in snow all too well.

Wow roz! You have amazing skill for capturing these great shots. I love following the wings in this one and the shadow of the wing structures against the dragonfly's body.

ROFLMAO!! This is Awesome!! Imho a subtle curve to increase contrast would help make the wall a little more dramatic. I'm a little troubled by the red on a personal level, but this is sheer genius on the creativity scale.

FYI for anyone looking at this shot in the future:
I am a professional violinist and an orchestra teacher and I assure you that no responsible teacher ever sets kids up with "left handed" violins unless there is a physical deformity (like a disfigured hand) that makes putting the instrument on the left shoulder impossible. The excuse below (she is just left handed) is also wrong because even the very rare person who plays this way has the hand turned around so the thumb is on the other side of the instrument. This is just a model/photographer that has no clue how to hold the instrument (not to mention the strange bow hold that would be a disaster if she actually played).

As for why virtually all string players are set up exactly the same (instrument on left shoulder). Part of it is pragmatic. Since most string players play in orchestras (where people are packed closely together to play) it is extremely problematic to have someone bowing in an opposite direction with their instrument close to their neighbors (which is also bad for aesthetics). More importantly, left handed players have no disadvantage to right handed players because string playing requires the development of your weak hand in either case. Left handed people need to work harder at properly using their bow hand, but they usually have a big advantage when it comes to the dexterity and fine muscle motion of the left hand putting the fingers down in the right place, shifting, vibrating. Learning a certain ambidexterity is required of both left and right handed string players.

Here's a young girl demonstrating good violin position. And Here's a SP I took (but my bow is blurred).

Really nice shot, but what's with the way she's holding the neck of the violin? It looks all weird over there.

It is odd because its a right hander's violin, and she is holding it to the left hand side. (the sides go by the bow hand which is most natural in its motion if it is you dominant hand.)

so thats a small woops....

there arn't many lefty (south paw) violins out there but in all my time playing i've only ever none one lefty who played his violin backward instead of getting a custom or learning the right hand side. But still he had the chin rest moved to the propper side.

anyhow its a nice image.
that is obviously the most distracting part to me since i know alittle more (maybe) than you none violin playing viewer. (her right arm also looks slightly burnt to black in spots)

great sky to bad about the DQ it alwasy sucks.

This is SO brilliant & well done and your explanation is an interesting read. I really like your vision for the google earth type clouds and if you ever try something like this again (because perhaps you're masochistic) then I wonder if some thin, pulled apart cotton batting suspended with fish line would do the trick. Clouds or no clouds, this is really a fun little world to study.
