Grab-and-runby SherwinJamesComment: This is definitely one of my favourite 'real action' photos from this challenge. You've really captured something that feels like a privilege to be able to see in 'slow motion'. |

Into the Nightby levyj413Comment: Very nice shot - the large amount of clear sky provides a lovely backdrop to these iconic buildings and moves the focus to them and away from the sky (often the sky overpowers if it's too interesting with stars). For me I'd like to see the buildings with a little more definition, maybe reduce the highlights or up the shadows as they feel just a tad overexposed...but it's a beatiful shot as is. |

Pirouette by MAKComment: Amazing shot, not only for the obviously interesting/thrilling action but also for the lighting which for me is the really impressive part. With such deft lighting skills I'd be tempted to shout "Larus" but I'm way too new around here to be starting to guess (and there's no snow!). The lighting on the subjects face in the three frames you can see it is amazing. The exposure for the most part is well handled with so much DoF and crazy shadowing - and I can see why you've underexposed to accentuate the rider. Is there any tone mapping in the foreground? Is that a speedlte behind the mound? Teach me your skills!! Anyhow..congrats on a brilliant photo. |

Air Traffic Control by hotpastaComment: One of my favourites from this challenge (if it stays legal!) but a wicked photo nonetheless. The perspective is gorgeous and I love the black and white which suits the toning perfectly, dark heavy jumbo against soft white clouds. For the sake of criticism/improvement, it would be nice to have removed the top of that lamppost from the sign if it was physically possible and for the last couple of jumbo frames to have been separated...but I'm guessing you were on a fixed time lapse, so the togetherness of the planes is the plane slowing down for a landing. Ace pic - solid 9 and a fave. |

From the Dark Sideby FalcComment: Fantastic shot. I love the transition and colours, plus the lights on the bridge going on. Brill! |

Frangapaniby Monique64Comment: Nice placement - I think you should have finished higher but hey, what do I know. I can't believe that 6 people voted this a 4 or less. There's no way it's a DNMC, the execution and composition is beautiful...even at worst someone could call this mediocre or average, but less than 4? Someone call the Voting Police - you've been robbed of a 7+. I'll stop grumbling now - grats :) |

day 4. january 08. where i live. not time lapse ??!!by rozComment: Legal or not this is a kickass shot! Seeing the ball at the end of the sequence really makes the photo for me. I find myself forgetting that this is all about our own photography ultimately, with DPC voting as an influence/guide - but it's a fantastic image for your portfolio and perhaps a whole new technique to play with - so who cares if it doesn't make a challenge (and a new/test/pioneer ruleset at that). You should get this one into DPC Prints methinks...would make a lovely present for a golfer. Anyhow, congrats on a fantastic shot.
edit: p.s. any chance you could put in your shutter speed/aperture/ISO details? Am interested to know what it took to almost freeze that ball (and his motion). Message edited by author 2008-01-05 11:47:33. |
