I currently have a 5.2, but one wonderful comment telling me I have the best photo in the challenge and thanking me for taking a piece of well composed art. I think I will take the comment and ignore the score! :)

Been in a roller coaster mostly down. This morning I was complaining about my low 5, now it's beginning to sound really good. But I am acclimating to the 4's.

No roller coaster here (wish there were!). 4.52 is the sad but steady truth. I feel ashamed to be in the presence of yellow, my favorite color, now.

I must have read the challenge wrong, or interperated it wrong... My photo has something yellow that leads to the impact of the photo, and someone said there wasnt enough yellow in it. Perhaps I should have just gone for all yellow something. Oh well.

You have my highest respect. Kudos to you for taking the time to gain knowledge (so what if your reason is to win a ribbon). I think we all would be pleased to see our name at the top of the list. I know I want to get better (score and otherwise) with every picture.
Best to you!

Thanks for the encouraging words. My score is still falling..

Got some good comments - my main goal for this entry, and it seems to be working.

If i get a ribbon, i can MAYBE, just maybe justify a D70. To my wife. I am a man and need no justification to buy techno-gadget-toys;)

I'm delighted.....not with the score, which is in the low 4's, but with the 7 comments!

Went for the less safe option which I really like, knew it wouldn't score very well, but couldn't quite get it right. The comments have pinpointed the problem. Have altered it and printed off a copy which is on my wall at work!!

dpc rocks!! Great place to come, to share, to learn ;) and to play with the update button :P

My most comments recevied (32) was on a pic that was, well, not meeting hte challenge too well. My lowest scoring pic (4%...3.6 something) garnered 19 comments. I have avoided Humor ever since. My finish was no laughing matter...couldn't resist!

Well, 120 votes, 4.75, and no comments so far. As mine was one of the pictures I believed the rules police might be considering to be orange, I went to PS to see how easy it would have been for me to desaturate the red or magenta to make my yellow absolutely appear yellow. To my surprise, I desaturated both red and magenta to -100 and made no difference to my yellow except slightly in some small areas where there were some reflections of actual reds on the yellow. I then restored the red and magenta and desaturated yellow alone. The yellow part turned white, except in some of the darkest regions where that part turned yellow. My yellow turns out not to be orange in the slightest, but a dark pure yellow. I was fooled, even though I knew my subject in bright light was absolutely a pure yellow. Perhaps the rules police were as well.

PS. I desaturated the greens, blues, and everything else but yellow and the yellow was not altered.

So, before I would say someone else had orange rather than yellow, I think I would run the same test in PS on their image.

Well, I've clawed up to a 6.088 with 5 comments, but I'm still disappointed believe it or not. I guess I had convinced myself that this was a better shot than it really is.

I continue to go up, however slight an increase it is. I think the "done before" shot haters came out early.

I'm very happy. This is only my second submission and the comments were very nice. I have had a hard time coming up with ideas for these challenges. I have made a promise to compete as much as possible. I will be joining as soon as all the Xmas shopping is done. Kids come before me this time of year.

I doubt it, I once tried but for another reason and I was told it can not/will not be done.

yes - exactly. So long as you don't select parts of the photo to edit. Desaturating the whole photo (except for yellow in this case) is allowed.
