Here's a little project. Submit a good shot taken on 12-25-04. With your picture just add a comment and tell if it's Basic Edit or Advanced Edit. The fun of doing it is your reward. |

Here are my three taken at Christmas Eve Candlelight service.
These were all taken from the balcony of the sanctuary and I was pretty pleased with the performance of my little 717 getting these shots.
The choir shot is them and members of the congregation singing the Hallelujah Chorus, and my daughter is in the black shirt in front of the organ. Enjoy!
Edit: I reread the original post. I believe all three of these would fall under the basic editing rules.

A couple shot of my son with his new train, just pretty much straight out of the camera, except for the second one, I painted the background black to get out all the other stuff.

I think she was debating between ambient light and flash fill at this point. Or maybe it was aperture. :)

I went to the front porch for some logs for the fire and saw these two in the front yard.

Here we go - cloned some tree branches out of his hair, USM, levels and border. The focus is a bit soft..low light, hand held. (ISO 200, F2.8, 1/8 sec).
I need a better camera...
Cut child out to another layter, adj background to dark and child brightened via curves and USM

Thank you! I felt the same way, a great Christmas treat indeed. No matter how many times we see deer, we always feel that way. Merry Christmas! |

Don't know if it's the best, but I like this one and was able to prepare if for my portfolio with very basic editing. Some of the others would probably have needed a fair amount of work before I was prepared to show them. But I'm quite pleased with what I did this Christmas. Hope I can be so productive every day.

That smile is the best gift I could have ever gotten! We were outside with the boys, all were riding their bikes from Santa. I asked my 5 year old if he was happy with what Santa brought to him and he gave me that huge grin! This is definitely what it's all about for me. :o) |
