The grain is for the mood.
Please let me know what you like or dislike about this :-)

I like the thoughts behind your picture. Didn't see the Mel Gibson picture, but I think the whole point was to get the viewer to feel what the one sinless man suffered for us. That was the sum of what he came to do.

Yeah but I think he got the point across about 30min into the torture scene... Anyway let's talk about my picture and if neccisary we can open an Mel Gibson thread somewhere else...:p

It looks pretty realistic. Good job.

When I first looked at the photo, I didn't think of Jesus. I'd thought it refered to someone slashing their wrists and was puzzled why someone who slashes their wrists would put band-aids on afterwards. Two things make me not think of Jesus: (1) his wounds are typically shown in the center of the hands, and (2) there weren't any band-aids 2000 years ago. This is a striking photo, somewhat disturbing. I like it though.

(1) It's proven people crucifyed those days were usually done in the wrist, the nail or support would tear through the hand because not enough bone support.
(2) Did you read the description? The bandaids are just a metaphor.

But thanks for the comments, I'm sure you already knew the above, but just so it's clear...;)

Now that I look at it with your eyes it does looks like he's slashed his wrists due to the technical features of it, I guess a picture is what the viewer wants it to be. :)

It's a pretty good post, but i don't think hands alone work in this picture. There's got to be something else in the scene. Yes, most of the part you don't need to see the whole thing to imagine it, but in this case it just doesn't quite work, i have a feeling of a fragment, as opposed to a picture of a part with the rest implied. Not sure if i'm conveying what i'm trying to say completely.

Disturbing. Very well done.

I'd prefer more realism. The image looks way overprocessed and almost looks like a 3d render or painting. The blood is also too brightly colored red. I'd like a rougher look to the image (your grain is barely noticeable) but for some reason, your image looks extremely smooth and soft. Nice attempt, but needs work.
