That's "bow" as in "bow tie", not as in "My daddy wouldn't buy me a bow-wow." It rhymes with "okay", but the vowels are shorter. |

What do you think about this one? I took it with my Nikon Coolpix 5400. I know it is not a big camera ...

Should you be able to discern what the background is? I took a shot that I thought might work, but I'm concerned that the bokeh areas might be too clear. Is it the more out of focus the better? I am among the slightly confused on this one.
To those of you who have a clear idea on this one, let me say thanks very much for the patience you've shown in trying to make it clear to the rest of us! |

| I'm in the camp of some others in that I don't think good bokeh is about points of light, although that can be a nice effect (it can also be a distraction). I think it's about a visual smoothness that allows the subject to "pop" while providing an astheticly pleasing, out-of-focus background. I think for this challenge, the background has to be a visible part of the image, in other words, if your main subject fills 90% of the image, there may not be enough background remaining to make a judgement on the quality of the bokeh. At least, this is the way I will vote in this challenge. |
