I recently purchased a SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card flash reader. When I try to use it with a SanDisk 512Mb Ultra II SD card in a laptop computer running Windows XP, the memory card gets corrupted, and is subsequently unreadable in either the computer or the camera (Pentax *ist DS). I've been discussing this with SanDisk technical support for some time, to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem, and perhaps know what to do about it? I've already exchanged the 6-in-1 PC Card, to no avail. I am able to read the Ultra II card without problem using several other flash readers. Thanks.

I have a Sandisk ImageMate 8 in 1 Reader/Writer (model SDDR-88). It works fine with my Win2K pro system and my son's laptop running XP pro.

Have you formatted the CF card? Are you having any USB problems?

Greetings,
I have a sandisk Imagemate CF card reader and use the ULTRA II 1gb cards, and I have had a similiar problem, I know if I access the card throught the reader often the next time I go to use the card, whatever files I left on the card will appear to not be there. However, an image recover system (software) such as Photorecovery gets them back no problems. The way I have found to solve this problem has to do with the way you access your cards, in my sony the files are stored in a subdirectory, if I dont close out all the subdirectories in reverse order of which they were opened I get the errors, if I am carefull on how I open/close them it works fine and I never have problems, sometimes I even double check by reopening the directories in the Windows File Manager and then reclosing them, minor step that only adds a few seconds to your task, and seems to solve the problem. Hope this helps.

I have tried formatting the SD card - in fact, I have to format it every time after it gets corrupted. The reader is a PC Card (PCMCIA) device, so USB is not relevant to the problem. I've tried write-protecting the card before putting it in the 6-in-1 reader, and XP still claims that the card is corrupted and can't be read, but at least I am still able to read the card in the camera, and other readers, after this. I can't be careful about how I access the card, because it is already corrupted when the first window comes up after it is inserted. This one really has me, and SanDisk tech support, stumped.
