So, all the advertising for the D70 says it will go to 1/8000 of a second. I cannot get it to go faster than 1/500 in manual mode. What am I not setting correctly? I cannot seem to translate the manual and get the answer..... HELP!!!!

Sometimes they stick. Try smacking it against the wall a few times.

How about settings?
Custom Setting 5-ISO Auto? turn off
Custom Setting 16 AE Lock? AE-L button
Try the Menu reset.
Still sounds like it is expecting the flash on there for some reason. Check the contacts on the hot shoe?

EDTI-What was the focus mode on? I have mine on AF-S almost al the time unless I know I am going to hit action shots and never have ahd that problem.

if u shoot in the manual mode alot u are fine just leaving the camera in the AF-C mode but if u use any of the preset modes then u should switch otherwise leave it in C u be able to get faster shots when needed and your auto focus will turn out much more accurate.

thats all from me just a recomendation if u use the presets then rember to switch it back over.

*edit messed up the quote*

ROFL :-)...

I've got this mental picture of RedSkyPhoto busting his D70 against the wall while the whole dpc community cheers him on.. :-).

Cheers, Chris H.

It's defective and will cause you ulcers.
I'm in the market for a "defective" D70 and will sacrifice a trade with you on my Oly E-10. You won't have to worry about 1/8000 sec, as it will only go to 1/640 sec.
ROFL
