Yes yes yes... but we are not debating whether a bridge can be considered architecture, or I'm not anyway; the topic is whether kids and grandparents belong in the set "old and new", and I'm saying surely they belong in that set as much as bridges belong in the set "architecture", as far as challenges are concerned. Each is a smaller subset of the larger, general set, and we really can't draw the lines that fine, nor enforce them even if we did.

Ay yi yi... aren't there some 'purty pitchers' y'all could be voting and commenting on? ;o)
I just have to say I find the overanalysis of challenge topics past and present to be amusing and a wee bit scary. Sometimes folks in DPC land think a bit too much, I'm afraid.
Then again, I'm just a simpleton from Texas so I probably don't have a clue what I'm talking about anyway. :o)

I broke two of the unwritten rules this site has for achieving a high score: 1. not a typical subject 2. LOTS of noise (purposefully).
And let me say, in my comments, I wrote "Thanks for all the 4's!" and my score right now, with 29 votes, is 4.000. Well, at least I'm good at the prediction part, huh?
As for my photo, I wanted to do something atypical, and I wanted an ominous feel (hence the noise). It's what I was going for...shame that my tastes and the site's tastes don't often align. Yeah, I'm whining...
EDIT - 33 votes, still 4.000!!!

Is it just me?
admittedly i just browsed the thumbs for the most part so far... but i am not getting a lot of the photos submitted... there seems to be no juxapotion at all in a good handful of them - but just a representation of old/ or new/ or misc object that i understand the reasoning for entering at all.
Maybe when i have a better look it will make more sense?
Maybe i'm losing my mind? |

I agree with you, mesmer; a lot of them seem to have no, or at best a tenuous, juxtaposition.

Pleasantly surprised. I figured low 5s. I don't even know why I submitted it. Too compulsive I guess.

I am not sure as to what to expect for an average score, but I would assume that it is right where I am at.

5.9 should be well above average, in the top 1/3 perhaps.

Ummmm, many of them show things side by side, it's just that some of the gaps are a little large... :-).
Cheers, Chris H.

I think I may have strayed a bit TOO far from the box... I've been getting comments like "great image, but I don't see the old and new," which is really frustrating. I had at least three old/new contrasts in my image that I thought were clear, but I guess they weren't! Oh well. I LOVE 5.3!!! |
