Hey again guys, I'm really pulling out all the stops here I guess. I'm trying to digitize slowely a small backlog of articles I had written on digital photography projects. I just put up one about how you can build your own Telescope using a webcam and the regular lenses you probably already have lying around. Check it out!

Did I miss something or did you forget to give the distance between the base of the bayonet mount and the sensor?

Anyway, for a 35mm camera lens it should be about 4cm or 1 9/16".

did you lose your job or something? You seem to have A LOT of extra time on your hands lately.

Yes, well I am definitly unemployed at the moment. So yes, I do have a ton of time on my hands. This stuff though is mostly old work of mine that I hadn't put online. I write for a photography magazine in Eastern Europe, so I have a backlog of interesting stuff to put up. BTW: I just put up an article about building PC-Shift Tilt lense.

PS: Yes, I did forget to mention the distance between the sensor and the lense. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

The distance from the face of the lens mount to the film (sensor) plane is different for different camera mounts. That's the reason why you can't make an adapter to use Canon FD lenses on Canon EF mount cameras without losing infinity focus.

I am definitely going to have to aquire an old medium format lens so I can make my own PC lens. Nikon wants ridiculous amounts of money for those. I am currently reading the camera by ansel adams and it would be nice to be able to try some basic view camera type perspective adjustments.
