Got the 1Ds back last week. Came back untouched, un-cleaned- un-repaired.
I think this takes about 2 1/2 mounths out of my one year warrenty and I still don't have a camera that works. I did test shots today and at all parameter settings the 300D was sharper.

Time to write to the corporate headquarters. Send a copy of that letter to the repair center. That's friggin' ridiculous. You paid how much for that camera, and this is the kind of post-sale support you get?
I've had problems with things before, and a letter to the top usually takes care of everything. If I were you, I would demand not only a free repair, but a rush-job and extension of your warranty at least. Let them know that customer satisfaction and support is half of what you're looking for and if they can't give it to you, maybe Nikon will. That should get their attention.

NSBCA,
Don't mean to trivialize your repair problem because I do know that it can be frustrating. . . but I have to ask: In your intiial post you said something about a camera being thrown out of a truck window?! How did that happen (if you're willing to share).
P.S. Have sent an EOS Elan back three time for the same repair (dial spring broke and the complete mechanism on top needed to be replaced. . . at $180 a pop. Noticed since that Canon has re designed that wheel.) Turn around time was very good though! |

Drunk chick ride home from party got pissed that camera bag was between her and myself. Camera bag flew out window. Girl flew out door several seconds later. Unharmed camera got ride home. Girl probably walked home.
