Junebug28's photo:

It seems like its a bit lost, to be honest. Nothing wrong with the bw, or the sharpness or anything, but the composition looks like its searching for its message and just hasn't found it. What are you trying to say with it? What are you trying to show us? I feel like I can't find that answer and for that reason the shot seems to fall flat for me.

JuneBug,
Great shot conveys a wonderfull sense of lonelyness, often associated with laundromats, esp late at night! the only possible change I'd make would be to perhaps reshoot it without that front cart, it is kind of big and glaring in the foreground like that, just MHO, keep it B&W btw!

It's amazing on how much a picture changes when it's in black and white vs color.

All this shot is missing one small item of clothing in the basket. That would give us interest. We'd wonder why it was left behind, who left it, what kind of person are they, etc.

As it stands now, it's a well exposed image of a laundry mat.

I agree that it's "searching" for a statement. I think if you removed the basket the shot would be easier to read. Except then it's just another laundry shot (albeit a good one). A good picture always has something to say - even if it's just a whisper..oooo I just made that up. Cliche, but true.

I actually think the picture is very good. As for a story....It'd have helped if there was someone in the background doing their laundry or reading a book. Would have made it for me.

I agree. One plain white t-shirt would finish this picture off for me. Maybe neatly folded... a military person's or rumpled... a college student...etc...

I think if the shot was composed to concentrate on the perspective it may improve it. Possible a higher view position and a crop on some of the stuff on the right.

Try something like:

(Hope this helps)
