how can you tell if you have 1's or other number voted? Does it show somewhere in your profile?
03/14/2005 01:27:31 PM · #52
you can't tell til the voting's over. you can only assume by the number of votes combined with drastic score changes.

Thanks! I've read where people said people were getting votes of 1's already...but I couldn't figure out how they knew! :)

Some people calculate during voting.

Well this is my first challenge submission:

61 votes = 5.1 avg

I have no clue where that even stands being my first experience with challenges. =) Oh well, a future of fun!

No comments on it though =/

Having forgotten to unsubmit, I'm cheerfully in the 4s.

Huzzah!

One of my best scoring shots but I still thought it would do better....

If your entry is not inside the tiny little box don't expect much.
03/14/2005 02:07:39 PM · #60
Agree, I think I could have scored better if I took a #2 pencil and drew a straight line on a scrap piece of paper.

woo hoo!

I think my entry is simply becoming faded from viewing. Have dropped 2 pts, and on a downward spiral.
Maybe you could use that #2 pencil to draw back in the lines on mine..i could print mine so you could have that scrap paper..

I can only find a #2.5 so I don't know if I can help. I did print mine out so I already have the scrap paper :D

didnt enter the challenge but i've viewed a lot of great photos (inside and outside the box), especially outside.
03/14/2005 02:46:37 PM · #66
51 votes and heading towards my 2nd highest score so can't be dissapointed in that, but, NO comments! of all my submissions I thought this would get the most :( I'm so upset I made a few of my own (all constructive) and have learnt quite a lot ;)

I'm unpleasantly not suprised.....

I did enter and I agree with your assessment... more unique takes on the theme -- hoping voters like the multiple meanings of "Lines"
03/14/2005 03:19:52 PM · #69
As it is near impossible to make a photograph that does not contain lines, short of a blank entry, everything meets the challenge. Yet, I have one comment implying my entry was inappropriate for the challenge. If you don't like my image, just tell me why, all constructive criticism is appreciated!

As this is my first challenge, I think I am doing as well as I expected. 4.5ish. My question is, can I see the individual scores somewhere? For example, can I view how may 1's ..2's....3's that have been given thus far? Thanks...

My sentiments exactly. ;) I'll be lucky if I finish that high though! :D

You have to wait until voting is over to see the individual scores.

That's what I figured, thanks. It seems to me that the highest rated photos get the most comments, which is a bit strange seeing that the lower end of the scale probably needs the most helpful hints or tips. Maybe it's too early to say, but I was hoping for more comments about what I could have done better.

Scores not changed but got 5 comments from the last 10 voters - thankyou :)

Trolls. Seriously, I am a good sport. If people want to vote low, hey, I'm cool with that. However, I think this picture is much better than anything I have submitted to date. I'd like to see that score go up. At least a 6. The composition, lighting, subject, so many elements, so much involved and came out well according to the guidance I have picked up on since coming to this site.

I think the same thing every time. I also notice how the same shot comes up again and again when you're looking at them.. I wonder how many people's photos are rarely seen.

You would think a challenge like 'lines' would leave some room for interpretation, but again, some folks don't know what a line is.
