Im looking to upgrade from my Minolta A1 5.0mp camera to a SLR.
I think i am set on the digital rebel but I had heard that the price will be dropping and such.
Where did you get your Canon Rebel and how much did you pay for it as a package with the 18-55 lense?
I do believe in buying from "the local guy" rather than a chain BUT i also would like to save as much as i can.
Thanx to everyone for their help.
BTW the "Local guy" has it for sale with the lense for $795.00

Since Canon released 350D most retailers dropped the price on 300D.

You can find it (kit: body + 18-55mm EF_S lens) for under $700 these days. A quick search (filtered by legit web sites) yields $676 at buydig.com

I doubt you can find it much lower at a reputable reseller.

Buydig.com is usually the lowest and they are extremely reputable. I highly recommend them. I've spent over $1,800 on cameras from them over the last year and have always been more than satisfied.

Just don't buy your lenses or accessories from them... TOTAL rip-off. I'm sure that's how they make their money.

I just got mine for $799 at bestbuy, was on sale but now changed to standard price as $799.

I typically buy items like this locally rather than on the internet only because I find that inconvenience if something went wrong much more costly than the savings I get online.

(I have had 2 motherboards shipped to me bad in the past, I pay for convenience =)

I got mine on BuyDig a year ago, with the kit lens, for under $800. It was close to $950 at the time at Best Buy (what an oxymoron). I couldn't disagree with you more. I don't think the internet is too risky to warrant spending an extra $100.

If you'd like a black body (it matters to some), Adorama has them with the kit lens for $699.

Bought a camera from buydig.com a few weeks ago and got it in 3 Days. Good company.

If you are not sure about the company.

I would really love to go for the new 350 rebel but they only way my wife is letting me get a new camera like this, besides the fact that she recently broke my Minolta A1, is the drop in price.
I REALLY wish i could dish out the cast for the 350 Rebel but want to keep it under $800 total for the body and lense.
