Make sure you point out that part about it taking longer for the smarter people to your hubby.

It took me a long time to figure it out, since I was.. as usual.. trying to make it much more complicated than it was. It's easy to completely miss it because it's so easy... not the figuring out of it necessarily, but the trick of it.
Ugh.

I think this is rather more a product of "abstract thinking" compared to "concrete thinking".. The abstract thinker.. which are people more into the arts, philosophy, music, creativity.. et al.. are generally more apt to see the solution faster than are people who are more concrete thinkers.. which are your mathemeticians, scientists, teachers, et al..
The first group has a tendency to think along more creative and abstract lines, thus "seeing" the problem.. the second group tends to be analytical, literal, linear, and problematical.. which can lead to more of a tunnel-vision approach, limiting the views of the problem and leading down a more frustrating path. Concrete thinkers, do, however, tend to be viewed as more intelligent on the whole.

I couldn't get it at first, so I went and watched ER. All that medical talk must've made me smarter, cuz I came back and got it right away. It's all about the name of the game. |

You haven't seen the road crews around here have you?
When the signs say Slow Men Working, there is no pause between Slow & Men.
Those concrete guys are - oh - Nevermind....(in my best Emily Latilla voice)

As was pointed out - the name of the challenge is a central clue |

I don't necessarily think that's true. I'm far from being mathematical or scientific (though I would certainly not classify myself as being an abstract thinker) and it took me ages to figure the riddle out - partly because the description led me to believe it WAS mathematical and I expected it to be complicated.
That said, I wouldn't say anyone who takes longer is smarter than someone who gets it quickly. It's just a matter of looking at things from a different perspective and/or processing what you're seeing differently. |

Oh.. I wasn't suggesting *anyone* was smarter or not for being able to get it or not.. I was just adding some thoughts onto the original statement from Dr. Duke about it.. and my philosophy on why he'd say that ;)

OH man I spent a good while on that one. I called my girlfriend over, and as I was explaining it to her...I got it.
So then I just kept picking the right answer and she was really mad at me then...so I had to tell her how to do it too.
Great game though!

Finally we got it here, it's not as fun once you've cracked it, but it's fun watching others try. :-) |

I learnt it a few years ago, but had completely forgotten about it - but I recalled the name when I saw it. |

Add the numbers on the dice, subtract the addition of the digits of your birth year, now divide by the megapixels of your camera (rounding up).
That should help. |
