I suggest that people look at a picture of a red rose and count the petals....then look closely at the series of dice. Easy! |

It must be the fact that I hate maths and would never be able to work it out in a complicated way, but I got it right the very first time and knew immediately what it meant! :)

Finally I got it. I think that the question is set trickily. Should it be “ . . . roses?†to make it logical and grammatically correct? Polish is so much easier then English :)

I have a more logic based mind and I got the concept before 'rolling' the dice, there is a natural elimination of complexity in the statement that suggests that it's possible to get it immediately, thus the solution must be apparent on a single roll and with no external factors given, the answer is rather obvious (especially considering why you are here in the first place).

Hey Darren, remind me that when the day comes that I have a party
(yeah like I ever have parties), you will be asked to leave your pocket protector at the door.

Hey Brad,
Would you like me to go into eloquent detail concerning your very own teleconverter and a tube of 'IcyHot' employed as a lubricant?
...and if you do it's gonna cost extra ;)

not to mention sideways ;)
As I'm mumbled to you in the past about my car (rumour has it that you know a little on the subject *grin*), I thought I'd take the opportunity to mention the death of my beloved Eve Dubbs (Dubsy) an 81' VW Golf Cabriolet. She had a leaking rear near-side brake cylinder that was far worse than I anticipated, in addition the master cylinder failed and upon inspection there was a large rust hole near the rear near-side suspension mounting. All together with the additional work that's required I had to kiss her goodnight.
edit: added bit about Dubsy

Damn highjackers!! Get off this plane!
Anyway, I finally got it. It's kind of silly. It only took me about 3hrs... Funny, I kept asking myself "what rose?" and then it hit me :-))

I got it after the first roll - for me the key was you had the question and the right answer right there - so before I went on I took 15 seconds and studied the question knowing the right answer - and quickly found the solution. Love these games and mind puzzels - I must not be that smrt. :P |

Bingo. For 5 minutes I thought I was gonna go mad. Then I realized that ALL the correct answers had something in common and it clicked.

It's really very straight forward - look...
int answer = 0;
int i;
for(i=0; i<5; i++) {
if(die[i] % 2) {
answer += die[i] - 1;
}
}
Just mentally run this simple C program in your head and you'll get the answer. :)
