The good news is I bought a new CPU. 512 memory, 60 GB harddisk, 1.8 processor, and winXP.

The bad news is that my %&*)&$#%camera is dead. (burnt battery chamber I think.)

I cannot afford another major expenditure but I'm having a real hard time convincing myself of that. *sob sob snif*

Actually WinXP is great news for digital image work. It's bad news for just about anything else, but great for digital images.

I work with digital images and WinXP is not allowed in my office!

I've been running XP for about 6 months...no problems at all. I use it mostly for web building and image editing. I can open a ton of full photo files in photoshop and not have any problems with speed or lock up. As far as I can see, it's a big improvement with some new really nice/convenient tools. I haven't had any compatability issues either. I've got a load of new image editing and web-building (dreamweaver...I'm so pumped) software headed my way so hopefully my luck will stick around. Why is everyone so afraid of it?

Well, It's from Microsoft... I've heard some security things that make it undesirable for a working enviornment. Also, it likes to tell you this piece of hardware or that piece of software won't work, but it lies... They just want you to buy everything from Microsoft.

But like you, I've found no problems besides it being slow from time to time. But I'm not in that much of a hurry :)

Sorry to hear about your camera misfortune, Aelith.

But on a positive note you now don't need to worry about voting on 95% of the pictures.

lol XP is 100% better than my old 98se.

I was already voting on all anyway.

The trouble with c-cards is it just adds to the cost of everything if you can't payoff in a month.

oh the withdrawl ugg.

Your camera is dead, and my computer has been dead for the last two weeks (killed the motherboard and processer). Luckily we got it working until the parts arrive (only one more day!). I can sympathize with you, though. Buy a cheap camera until you can afford a better one, better than nothing.
