Hi, does anyone know if this is a rat or a mouse?
I cant decide if its a baby rat or a mouse.... you can see the size by looking at the apple.
Thanks
p.s, Today there were 3 of them do mice come in groups?

That's a mouse. Rats are big and ugly -- they're more long and slender and 'sneaky' looking. Mice are cute and fuzzy. :-p
edit: oh btw, I consider myself a professional in the above statements as well. I fed mice to my snakes for a number of years, so if you need me in court, let me know ;-)

Looks like a mouse. The tail in proportion to the body doesn't seem long enough or fat enough for a rat. Also, it appears to have fur on the tail which I don't think rats have. Though, I am just guessing.

That looks very much like a mouse to me.

By comapring the size of the critter to the size of the apple, I say:
Mouse
Thats: Mouse=5 _ Rat=0

Mouse... way too cute to be a rat. Mice do congregate in groups, as do rats and moles. I would make a suggestion though,,, make certain they can NOT get into your house... you may not find them quite as cute if they do.

On the farm, if you see one, you probably have 100's. The more there are the bolder they get. Don't feed the bugger, they are like gremlins (not the car-silly). They multiply faster than rabbits. |

Now Kylies, I will send you all the little buggers I catch live...WHICH WILL BE FEW. these will be the wild varity_the uncontrolled rodent that gets into you food and pees and poops in your silverware drawer, makes nests in your seasonal clothes box and WORSE decides your camera equipment will make very good nesting. NOW THATS NOT CUTE.

I agree !! (at least as long we're talking about PET rats)
So size and cute factor alone won't tell you if it's a mouse or a rat. |

Apart from the fact that there probably isn't much left of our ratties (they died a year ago), we loved our babies!!!
Bad Ken, BAAAAAAAAAD!
Hmmm just for that comment you deserve some punishment.... hmmmm.... I do remember where we buried them. Are the kids watching?
