I was out looking for silhouettes and found this pair instead.

These are excellent shots, you must have staked out a nest and waited for hatching. Good work.

coolhar, thanks! This goose is nesting on my pond, which I can see from the house. In fact, she's been nesting in exactly the same spot for four years now. We live in a very isolated area, so she is left completely alone -- no one walks through the pond area except me and my husband. I've tried to get photos of her in previous years but she wouldn't allow me to get close enough for a decent shot. This year I decided I'd get her used to my presence by going to the pond every day, steering clear of her, standing on the other side of the pond, but within her sight. I think it worked because when I finally approached to take those pictures, she didn't seem to mind too much, except for the first one, where I approached her from behind. You can see that she's honking at me. lol! But I backed off and everything seemed to be okay after that. :)

Fabulous sequence of the arrival of these new chicks. Each of these images also stands along beautifully. Your patience certainly paid off. |

Love this thread. Been wishing I could get some feedback on my pelican photos. It's almost like cheating because they are so tame, you can walk right up to them. But they have great personality.

Still learning how to do this. Could you please try again and let me know if they work now? Thanks!
