I spent a half hour watching a crow trying to drive off a sea gull near the crow's mates nesting place. Was shot using the 70-200mm F4L Canon.

Cool Shot! I've been watching the same scenario here with Ospreys and Crows. Wish I had such a camera to capture it.

I actually had an exactly similar experience the other day on my lunch break. I was sitting on the steps out of my work. And a seagull landed on the building across the way, sat there for a minute when a crow came flying in dive bombing right past the seagull. I thought the crow would give up sometime, but he kept on dive bombing and almost landing a hold on the seagulls wings. And just like your picture the seagull would try and bite the crow as it flew past. I think it was about 15 minutes or so they went on. And I also see up in the sky when I'm driving home on the highway when a hawk is circleing, a gang of 2 or 3 crows will have fun or defend there space and take turns dive bombing the hawk while in flight. I laugh every time I see them.

I know what you mean. Saw 5 crows chasing after an eagle yesterday, but do you think I could get my son to leave the park to chase after, NO! I WANT TO PLAY! Can a grown adult sulk.... YOU BET!

Anyhow, another shot of the same episode. I even have some of the crow trying to nail the sea gull with poop. Now that would be justice.

I can hardly wait for dive bombing people season.

My, this could have been a high scorer in the Silhouette Challenge. Great timing.

Never though about that. Crows are naturals at silhouette.

That's great. I love the way the open beaks are facing right at one another. Though it makes me want to get my Photoshop on, take the gull from parkingspot.jpg and the crow from parkingspot1.jpg, flipped horizontally, to get the most dramatic pose from each bird.
