Wow! Simply amazing pictures. I think I like the second two the best, they show the most of the bird. High place finishers for sure...if it makes you feel any better :)

These are terrific! What lens did you use? ISO Speed, F-stop? I have been trying to capture the hummingbirds outside my window too.

Beautiful colors! I like the second picture the best. I tried to take pictures of hummingbirds when on vacation in Cuba but they didn't turn well. I know that we have this kind of birds here in Edmonton in summer, but I didn't spot them yet.

Thanks for the comments! I used the Sigma 70-300mm at F7.1.. shutter speed approx 1/400 sec. There wasn't enough light, so I had to use ISO 800 and clean it up in neatimage later...
These birds were so much fun to shoot!

What is the name of the plant they are hanging around?

I wish I knew... they seem to like this plant a lot, I've seen them around this plant in other places too...

I'm fond of #2.
Good thing you were too late, since how would you have chosen?

Great shots, 1 and 2 particularly good.

Wow! I love the way they are surrounded by that wonderful airy red!!! My favorite is the 2nd one too, but I love all of them.

Don't you hate that when you get a perfect just a little too late! That's a shame, but what awesome pics to add to your collection!!!

i love the 3rd one. great everything!! this would have definately gotten a 10 from me(if i could vote the members) but in the least it would have gotten a great comment posted from me!

I agree that they're all fantastic, but #3 is a definite 10 in my book! Thanks for sharing them!!!

Wonderful pix! Thank you.

I prefer #3 and would have definitely given it a high mark - I know how difficult these things are to catch - photographically that is :)

Steve, that is such a great picture! It's so hard to get a mommy duck and her babies juxtaposed to make a really cute picture, but you have accomplished just that! I just love the way the one is looking up like he's saying something to the mom. That's too bad you couldn't enter that one in the bird challenge. I would have given that one 10 because it had that "heart factor" for me :) (I'm an emotional voter)

Good job!!!

Excellent shots! Especially the last one!
I find that the same thing happens to me too! Always getting the perfect shot days after a challenge closes. Almost makes me not want to ever put my camera down... and always have my finger on the shutter release button for fear that I'll miss a shot!

Thanks Arpita for the settings. (Read back and you will find what she used). I have been using 400 speed too but I really need a telephoto lens. The hubby took several pictures and we've named the birds 'Waldo' as in "Where's Waldo" because it is hard to find in the photos. :-)

This is my little fellow, or one of them...
