looking at your profile I see that you have 2 lenses that reaches 300mm, why buy another ?

if you have $2000 I would rather go for the 70-200L IS f2.8 and the Canon 2X converter

then you will have one of the best lenses ever made, and with 2X you will have 400mm reach (640mm on 20D)

and the image quality will be much better then with your old lenses.

Get rid of the Canon 100-300mm for about $100 on Ebay, buy the 300mm f4 L IS ($ 1,119.95), Canon 70-200 f/4 L ($ 554.95 after mail-in rebate) and a Canon 1.4x extender ($279.95).

Total of purchase: $1854.95 before taxes. Sweet!

That will take care of all your long lens needs. Plus, the Canon 1.4x converter will give much better results that the 2x converter and you only lose 1 stop rather than 2.

- 300mm f4 IS (420mm f4.5 IS with converter, 672 mm equivalent on 20D)
- 70-200mm f4 (98-280mm f4.5 with converter, 157-448 mm equivalent on 20D)

Then later on, get rid of your Tamron AF 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di LD and put that money towards purchasing a wide-angle lens or a good walk-around lens.
