I have posted a few pictures for the challenges, alright? And when it wouldn't take the first picture I was told that the pictures have to be 150 kb or less so I go on Photoshop 7.0, then go to image size and change it to 149 kb. DP finally took it, yes.
So now I'm getting all these comments that the picture is too small. Hm, did I do something wrong then? It won't take an image any bigger than that.
I'm so confused. You can tell I'm new here, huh?

There's two ways to reduce a photo--reduce it's horizontal and vertical dimensions (size), or it's compression (which affects file size).
You want one of your dimensions to be around 640 pixels for posting here. Can't be more, but should'nt be much less. The other dimension will vary depending on how you crop the photo.
Then when you save, most programs let you pick a JPEG compression ratio. Set it so that your file size is 150KB or less. The more compression, the smaller the file, and the poorer the quality. So try to keep it as close to 150KB as possible.

The way I reduce my images is by first creating the required pixel size (640x480). Since I take full res images (with my dSLR) I bump up the resolution to 250dpi. I usually end up with a file thats about 800k. After that I do a "Save Image for Web" in Photoshop. I can still choose a high compression rate but my images become only about 90k or so.
Try it out and see what happens. Good luck.

OH! For Photoshop 7.0 I made the pixel dimensions less than 150 kb! :hits forehead:
I just sooo wish I could go back and change it but people are already voting. I also wish I could comment those people and tell them what happened..ugh.
Thanks!
