Prayers to all those affected by this morning's attack. Glad to read that so many site contributors are OK.

For a start this thread was started by a DPC̢۪er in London and has been fueled by concerns for fellow DPC'ers. One big difference is that there are many more DPC members in London area than there are in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I sit hear tearful and with a stone in my throat. As a once 10-year resident of London, I am completely saddened by this turn of events. My condolences go out to everyone, not only in London, but worldwide - we too feel the devastation which accompanies today.

At least there is a lot of hope. Places like DPC show that the sense of community and brotherhood surpasses that of nation. And the stoic, gritty realism of the Londoners is a lesson for us all.

Just a reminder to keep all political commentary in this rant thread, and not this one, thanks.

Erm - no! We lead by example. We will not be afraid.

I hope that we will also set an example to the rest of the world by pursuing the terrorists using law enforcement measured, not military measures. I hope that we bring the perpetrators to trial while upholding all of the principles of justice that I hold true. It is only by setting a great example to the rest of the world, by holding our values high and sticking to our principles, regardless of the pain we have suffered, that we can hope to change anything.

It may be a hope too far: the UK government has demonstrated recenetly a flagrant disregard for principles of justice and human rights when it comes to the terrorist threat. That kind of action will only breed resentment, and increase the threat in the long term.

I totally agree. Absolutely. (Are you psychic and sucking this out of my brain?:)

Sorry, will take it the political thread. Apologies.

I was privileged to visit London a few years ago. It is a beautiful city! My heart grieves with you today as you deal with the tragedy of this terrorist activity. I hope that all of our DPC members and their families are safe.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

According to CNN, Scotland Yard has just confirmed 37 dead. I'm so sorry for everything everyone in the UK is going through this morning. My thoughts are with you.

edit - sorry; it's morning here, not there.

British + Panic != reality

Heck, I've read stories about British troops being overrun and they'd call out on the radios and ask for assistance but they'd phrase it "we're in a bit of a sticky and request assistance"...none would get sent and we'd find out they were over-whelmed and getting slaughtered. And wonder why they didn't just say "we're overwhelmed and being slaughtered and need bloody help right the !@#$% now"

I imagine if Britain would remain calm if they were nuked. They'd probably exclaim "it's a real pisser and be sure we'll get their arses in the end" but for some reason....I don't think they'd be over-panicked. Determined - Yes....mournful yes....panicked and cowardly - just doesn't sound like the Britain I've seen thru history.

Hi friends, just thought I'll let you know that I had a narrow escape today... Twice.

First I was late this morning so was just one train behind the one (Picadilly line) in which the explosion happened.
Then while trying to get a bus to office I was again about 300 mtrs behind the one that had the explosion.

Helped some people... got back home safely about 1:00PM and prayed that I was just lucky.

Since no one in my family, colleagues or friends could reach my both cell phones they feared for me for a long time. Networks were very congested and also it is believed that some phone companys blocked the networks signals around central London so as to avoid anyone using a cell phone to remote detonate a device.

Well... the chaos is still in my thoughts and I can't get over the sights of frantic people running everywhere.

My condolences to the family and friends of all the people who died today.

Not much I can say that hasn't been said.
My prayers go out to everyone in London.

I'm not the most religious of people, but I do believe that God works in mysterious ways. Thank goodness you are OK, and bless you for helping people. What a horrible trauma to endure. "Lucky" is one word I'd use to describe what happened to you today, "blessed" is another. :o)

I have a few friends in London that take the subway downtown every day, but for some unknown reason they were all either late og taking the day off from work this morning, they do not know eachother so it wasn't a planed thing, one of my friend just missed her usual train and took the nex one, the one she missed got blown up, another decided to go to another underground station than usual, 2 station equally far from his home, the one he usually goes to got blown up.

so I guess Icelanders are blessed.. no known injury amongst Icelanders in London :)

prayers to those that weren't so lucky..

Sadly, it seems that God's mysterious ways were deeply bizarre for 37 people today or perhaps he was very selective with His blessings.

Thanks to all for the wishes and prayers..
