I think this picture has some nice potential.
Personally, I find the jeans on the top right a little distracting. I feel there should either be a bit more showing or none at all. Same with the white on the bottom right corner. Some cropping will help this.
Compositionally, when you're taking the picture, don't forget the edges. If you're using your LCD screen to take the picture, be sure to pay attention to the edges of the screen. It's easy to focus on what you are taking pictures of, and forget about the edges, and then when you look at them later, you have things on the edges that don't always work.
The other thing is the picture is a bit flat. Some tweaking with levels (if you have Photoshop) and hue/saturation and color will help bring up the color in the shoes and grass.
Hope this helps! Remember, this is only my opinion. I'm no expert at this.
Keep taking pictures!

Besides what she said, the thing I see is the relatively flat, mid-day lighting that kind of washes out the details and shadows. I see a photo like this being more interesting converted to black and white and maybe a little bit less exposed. |

I agree with pidge .....interesting concept but with a crop to eliminate the distractions and some adjustments to liven up the grass and shoes, this would be a greatly improved shot. Keep at it !

Interesting shot... Not knowing what you was thinking when you shot it I tried to place myself in your shoes (pardon the pun). I see the crop the way that you did (the crop) but in my mind I saw this as a dream state...
The grass was getting a little out of focus and bland near the top left and there were a couple of distractions in the upper and lower right.
Hmmm...how do I put the viewer in a dream state?
Here's what I did:
USM to exagerate the detail of the shoes.
The distractions on the right hand corners aren't that big...and I am going for a dream effect so I added a Soft Vignette (tunnel vision adds to the dream push the viewer inward).
The grass on the upper left is already detailess, so let's blow it out a little more... I used a Radiant filter on the entire Image but a diffused glow would have a similar effect.
My thoughts but I could be way off...
