I'm sure there are loads of out takes that haven't been shown so as to preserve anonymity during the challenge. Just have time to post one quick one before work this a.m. Anyone else?

Here are two of my outtakes from the same match Siggi, Arnit, and Skarason submitted from:

I couldn't decide between these two...

So went with this instead.

Still not sure I made the right choice.

Mainly due to editing these are out takes ( I was a hell of a long way away)

Here is a link to my Rugby albums. The bottom album the one I selected my entry from.

Were those taken with your Z1? What settings? Did they need a lot of editing?
They are very sharp. And you seem to have the panning technique nailed down. Well done.

Used my A2, with 1.5 telephoto on it, but after about 100 attempts I opted for faster shutter speeds and less panning and then editing in motion blur, it's a big cheat but the best panned shots i got were interspersed with flag's, grandstand pillars and PA speakers.
But to be fair each shot took less than 5 mins to edit, and i was blowed if I was comming away from the GP without some shots that looked good, printed off about 10 shots like this and my mate with a 20D and 300mm L glass and he didn't suspect any editing.

Here's my entry. I thought I'd try to be a bit different, but nobody understands my artistry. ;-)

My daughter's legs are on the left. I took a few leg-group shots.

Here's an outtake that probably would have fared better:

That's my girl being run over by a really good player, who actually made the goalie on our team cry. (6 & 7 year olds)

Here are a few more out takes from the Orioles-RedSox game. I think they're both better than my entry, really. The Broken Bat shot looks a bit like skiprow's that did so well! Mine wouldn't have done nearly that good, but I suspect it would have beat my 5.4 entry.

Thanks for that added info Peter. They look fine to me.

Two more great captures Ray. Maybe I'll have to try for the Broken Bat shot next time I go to the ballpark.

I got top 10. Couldn't ask for much more. Even though these are bit more "risky" in artistic interpretation.
