I've been shooting digital for a while now, but i'm taking some classes in the fall that require me to buy a 35mm. I'm looking at a Nikon N55 on ebay and want to know if the lenses for my D70 would be compatible before I bid on it.
Thanks for the help.

DX lens (i.e. kit lens) won't be, but the rest should. The DX lenses are specifically for digital SLRs.

I've actually thought about taking a class, just to use film and learn how to develop in a dark room.

Because it's a craft. I love the work Ansel Adams did in teh darkroom and would love to understand how he did it.
And your analogy is not the same.

The 12-24 f4 DX lens works quite well on 35mm cameras from the 18-24 settings. In fact @ 24 it is considered one of the sharpest 24s Nikon has ever produced. |

a topical topic:
i developed my first B&W film last night, in the midst of hearing;
that a local store is scaling back their chemicals,
local trade college is "talk" about closing their darkrooms,
and hearing about how much better B&W prints are, dynamic range ,etc etc ...
developing is dead easy / printing will come later
and yes, all, except your DX lenses, will work-
possibly some DX will work but look for fuzzness & CA in the corners(not much CA in B&W) , if not outright vignetting
don't bother with the 10.5mmDX unless you plan on major cropping with the enlarger :/
it is good to learn the retro stuff -- it makes you think ...
